What’s in a name? A name is more than just something by which we are called; in a sense, it is our reputation. Did you know there are a multitude of names for God? Each name unique and powerful; the list is endless.
Join us on this exciting adventure through Scripture, where we will learn some amazing verses, talk about how those verses should affect our lives, and discuss some practical ways to make these names “real”.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” – John 14:6
Truth is vital. Who wants to believe in a lie? Biblically, Christ made seven ‘I AM’ statements. One of these statements is that He is the way, the truth, and the life. Here in John, we are reminded that Christ is our definition of truth, He is Truth personified.
For Christians, Christ is the ultimate example of Truth. In Him we receive hope, guidance, and assurance. Either Christ is truthful and we should listen to Him or He is a liar and He should be ignored. There is no in-between. If Christ is Truth, then this demands a response; namely, our obedience. If Christ is Truth, we ought to then live our lives accordingly.
To better help our children understand what truth is, consider playing a few ‘truth’ games. Tell stories and have your children determine whether or not they are true. Role play truthful/untruthful situations. Encourage your children to communicate their thoughts on what ‘truth’ is and isn’t. Always be on the lookout for opportunities to discuss this important topic; the possibilities are endless!
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14
